Surgery #2

Well, my dad made it through his second surgery on his left leg. I wasn't able to get exact details from my mom as to what the procedure entailed. (Which is hard for me, since I ask alot of questions!) Her comment was, "He's alive and that is all I can worry about right now". Understandable. But, I do know that they were able to close up the area that they previously had to leave open to heal. He was also given more antibiotic beads, which are left in there to prevent an infection. As for the plastic surgery to make him a new heel/ankle, I believe that is on hold for the time being. As of this afternoon, he is stable and they are trying to decrease his oxygen he needs to below 60% (good thing.). He has also made a few responses to stimuli, upon request.(great thing!) In the meantime, my mom has been able to go home today for a shower and sleep that was long over due, while a Navy Seal is back at the hospital praying over Rocky. Thank you for keeping in touch everyone!

Thank you so much for creating this blog. I do not know Rocky other than to say Hi as we pass in the halls of the Main Office at the Sanitation Districts. What I do know for sure is that many are devastated about his accident and even more than you could imagine are praying daily for Rocky's family and for healing powers for Rocky's many injuries.
I first learned of this blog Thursday evening and forwarded it to several people at work yesterday. Alot of employees may have been off on Friday but I'm sure they will be adding comments as the word gets out. If not, you can be sure they are lurking and reading every word posted.
Take care of yourselves and keep your strong faith. That is the best you can do for him right now.
This must a very trying time for your family -- most of us can only imagine what you all are going thru.

God Bless You all!

This blog is the best idea. I hate to bother you Linda at the hospital so this way I can see what's going on. It seems that things are slowly getting better and that he is getting ready to wake up. I feel in my bones that he is going to make a full recovery. At least I sure hope so - my whole family is hoping for the best for you and your family and praying for Rocky. I'm sure glad you and Kevin are taking care of yourselves now. You don't need to be in the hospital too. We love you all! David and Cheryl Grover and family

We are praying for your dad and hope he recovers fully and soon. I know it is very difficult to understand why this is happening but I hope and pray you will lean on God's understanding and trust Him through all of this. I have a friend who also went through brain surgery and was in a coma for three weeks. He is now walking, talking and back to work. He wrote a book called "Life after near death" which describes what he went through. Hang in there and let's keep praying.

Dear Roccia family,
My heart is saddened upon hearing of this terrible tragedy. I think of Rocky everyday and hope and pray for his recovery. Rocky has been my friend since the first day we met. I am a better person for knowing him and the world is a better place for having him in it. Have courage and try to stay strong throughout this difficult time.

A very loved person here at Sanitation Districts. A shock to everyone in our department and a devastating blow to my fellowship of friends. In buddy circles, he is one we look up to and cherish. I am most certainly sure a miricle is just around the corner as I dwell on his every movement and facial expression. He sees this, knows this and communicates to us by the little miricles that are written about him in his blog. The mind holds many mysteries and we see that.

To The Rock:
Rocky, you are a unique and wonderful force among us, so put down that piece of electronic quark or supernova out there in the universe wherever you are and come back to us. We have unfinished biz bro.

In the meantime people located everywhere are praying for you.

Linda, . . . Kevin, . . . you are so loved by everyone and remain in our prayers day and night.

His friend

Tina and Family,
It is so nice to read how much rocky is loved and has touched the lives of so many people. (including us). I just can't wait to see him in the front yard playing with the horses again (the dogs). I wanted you to know that Joan and I are taking care of the house on a daily basis. Inside and out. It's the least we can do. Your mom doesn't need to worry about that at all. Joan is really good with keeping food in the refrigerator so your mom and brother can just grab and go. Rocky is always in our prayers. He is family to us! Love you guys, and thanks for taking the time to update this blog, it's really hard to catch you mom at home for updates.
Love, Joey, Cathy and the girls

Hi, Dear Linda, Kevin, Tina and Nathan:

Last Friday was a blessing, I showed up at the hospital thinking I'd see Linda and Kevin. I was told they had JUST left to shower and rest, etc. I hadn't planned to see Rocky, but as I was leaving, his nurse was walking out of ICU and asked who I was there to see. I asked if I could just look at him and pray for him through the window. He said, no, come on in, and pray face to face. So I was able to see his sweet face looking so much more like him. Chaplain Chuck also showed up and we talked to Rocky and prayed over him as if he was united in prayer with us. The Chaplain is faithfully praying with and for Rocky, and all of you as well, as are so many others, and prayer is a powerful thing, as is the will to live, and the strong force of love.

Thanks Tina for keeping this up. I know it's hard, but it helps so much especially when we can't get there for a few days at a time and don't want to bug your mom for info.

We just met with Linda at the hospital today (after spending nearly an hour trying to find out where we were and where she was). We had lunch there and talked at length. Our "mission" was to lend support and to give her a little breather by distracting her somewhat. We hope it worked. The hospital has been a madhouse since the horrific train wreck last weekend and Linda, who has been sleeping on chairs in the lobby, found little room to even be there and she finally went home. It was little better on Sunday. But today, she says that it has quieted down somewhat. We never did get to go to Rocky's room as there was still too much commotion in the trauma center. After an hour and half or so, we said our goodbyes and left to fight the traffic back to Lakewood. Rocky's a fighter and he'll do everything he can to return to his family. We are praying and pulling for him and his family. Linda looked tired but in fairly good spirits as we chatted.

Thank you for this wonderful blog! What a wonderful age we live in..........I'm sure that the time it takes you to keep this up still saves you much time in trying to keep people updated. Rocky and your family very much keep in my prayers. I'm a true believer in miracles....God has given me two complete healings from different cancers....so we know that He is still very much in control. Bless you all!

Tina, thanks for putting this together. It helps to be kept in the loop. I miss you guys since you left SoCal. You left a hole in our church.
I've known Rocky for a few years, but not that well. But I can tell you that in our few times together, I was typically on the receiving end. He was usually giving to me, or to someone else. I guess this is my turn now. I'm praying for him and for you and Linda.

I worked with Rocky many years ago and I am so sorry to hear about his injuries. My first husband sustained catastrophic brain injury in a car accident so I truly know what Linda and the family is facing. If you want to talk with someone who has "walked in your shoes", you can get my contact info from Jack Simpson. My prayers for Rocky and the family.

Hi,

I don't know Rocky but am a friend of a friend of his,(Hugh Risdon)and a fellow rider. We here in Pennsylvania are praying for his recovery as well which it sounds like is what's happening. He is a handsome guy and I'm sure will be up and at it before too much longer. Godspeed. Signed Jack Ballard
