Dear Linda and Family,
I am so saddened by the loss of this wonderful and very unique person. I am probably his oldest friend. Meeting Gerard in 1955 when he was 3, and I was 4. For many years the two of us counted on each other’s strengths to find our way past all the challenges, like Batman & Robin (never knowing who was who). Whether we were playing in the sandbox, riding our bikes, building tree forts in vacant lots, sleeping in his tent in his backyard, accelerating in sports (Gerard was always the fastest kid in the neighborhood), weekend camping trips, and a few cases of juvenile delinquency to round things out. Whatever we were doing, Gerard had a way of always making it fun. His quick sense of humor was somehow magical at getting us out of trouble and sometimes detrimental at getting us into trouble. In our upper teen years there were summer camps, traveling to Texas, high school dances, finding jobs, and just dealing with the “60’s. We were together so much that some people in town thought we were brothers, and I was one of those people. There is not a childhood memory that Gerard is not a part of.
As Nancy and I look around our home today, we see so many items that were touched by Gerard including our brass bed that he delivered in his van in 1976, and our wedding pamphlet that he created with his artistic skills.
In our tri-annual emails we would always suggest that we should re-unite. And in our minds we both believed it would happen someday. I am so sorry now that I didn’t make that happen.
As I read all the other entries, it is comforting to know that Rocky had so many good friends. Other people who had the chance to know him, to experience his wit, his strength, his sensitivity, his joy. His light will be surely missed but never forgotten. Myself and so many others will continue to tell of the adventures and funny stories of my good friend Gerard Roccia.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you find the comfort and peace that you deserve.
Love,
Mickey & Nancy Harrington

Dear Linda and family,
I am so very sorry to hear about Rocky's passing. I was praying for his recovery as well as everyone else was. I didn't know Rocky very well. Only talked to him once a year when Linda had bunco at their home. I feel as if I have known him for a long time through Linda. Whenever she talked about Rocky her whole face lit up. Her eyes and her smile told of their love and life together. I will continue to pray for Linda and Rocky's family. I am sorry to say that I will not be able to attend the service for Rocky. I will be on the road to Texas. I will stop on Thursday where ever we are at 3:00 and say a prayer for Rocky.
Take care and be strong.
Love,
Jan Collar (Linda's Bunco Pal)

Rocky was a true presence here at the Districts Offices.
A short while ago I took a walk past his cubicle and noticed that his coworkers had placed a picture of Rocky facing the opening to his cubicle.
On the photo someone put a label, "WE WILL MISS YOU"...
that just about says it all.
He is truly and terribly missed by those who knew him best.
Rocky also made tremendous contributions to the Districts through his work.
Rocky may be gone but he will not be forgotten! That is certain.
God bless and Rest in Peace.

Dear Linda and Family, Gerard was our next door neighbor growing up. 13 of us and the two of them. Tony babe and Rod. Boy he changed his name a lot. He was a great kid then and a wonderful adult. i remember making your wedding cake and the party in Betty and Tony yard. I would email him from time to time and catch up on things. I would send photo lots of old ones i would come accross of his Gold Van and his trip to Texas with my brother Mickey. Some photo of his parents. It was very hard to hear the news and I could not find any information in the papers here and hoped it was not true. Then i realized the newsletter had a Blog and saw that beautiful smile. he is with Good company Up in heaven past those white fluffy clouds he used to watch from watsessing park. My Sister Ellen passed at age 42 and on the other side of his house was my sister in law Nancy Marcasani who passed last january. I pray for your family that you find strenght in all the loving memories help keep you strong. Love Ginny Harrington Hutchison.
